Estados Unidos y China: la evolución de los diferenciales de complejidad y las disputas comerciales

Se aborda la relación comercial entre los Estados Unidos y China en su estado actual, en particular la especialización relativa y los diferenciales de complejidad en los flujos, tema fundamental para entender el impacto que puede tener la guerra comercial iniciada por Donald Trump en 2018. Se presta especial atención a los factores de competitividad que ostentó China en el inicio del proceso y en los actuales, así como los objetivos que el gigante asiático se propone para aumentar su competitividad. En función de esto, se analiza el rol de China como coordinador de la red productiva global, especialmente asiática. Finalmente, se sacan conclusiones sobre el futuro del vínculo y de la actual estrategia proteccionista americana.

This work aims to analyze the commercial relationship between the United States and China in its current state; mainly, the relative specialization and the complexity differentials in commercial circulation, a fundamental topic to understand the impact that the commercial war initiated by Donald Trump in 2018 can have. We will emphasize the competitiveness factors shown by China in the beginning of the process and currently, as well as the objectives that the Asian power aims at in order to increase its competitiveness. Accordingly, China's role as the coordinator of the global production network is analyzed, especially that of Asia. Finally, conclusions are drawn about the future of the relationship and the current US protectionist strategy.
